Any independent contractors willing to give start up advice? How is shifting for full time to IC?

I have an opportunity to work for a company as a contractor for 3-6 mos. There is a high possibility that at the end of that time there is a FT position. I have always been interested in freelance work (I am an instructional designer) and feel this run would be a nice way to dip my toes in. It is a bit scary leaving FT security but this kind of fell in my lap. and it feels like “a sign. “ I don’t have any Contacts in this position so I am curious if there are any FGBers will to give advice.

I haven't done freelance work before but I have been a contractor on a number of occasions. It's a paycheck to fill in the gaps and often it's an opportunity to see if the company is the right fit for you. I was hired full time after taking a contract role. It was an ok job until my manager quit.

I was able to freelance for a company when one job ended- I Lovvvvved it! I was able to set my own schedule, wfh, and get to know the team. They hired me about a year and a half later- it was bittersweet to stop working for myself but I never went to look for new clients and I really like the boss- oh I am an ID too. If you are curious go for it!
