Women helping women

I just want to give a shout out to the women who are taking the time to help other women. Here is my experience: I follow an executive from a large Cyber organization. She posted how the community should support women in the field. I reached out to her and she put me in touch with a recruiter, also a woman. The recruiter went over my resume and asked "what excites you the most, are you looking for a leadership role , individual contributor?" and made an effort to get to know me and match me to the right job. She went above and beyond by asking me to contact her with the jobs I apply to and she will introduce me to the hiring manager. example 2: partnered with a woman earlier in my career at Apple, she posted on Linkedin that she was looking for a manager in my state. I reached out , we had a conversation and I am moving to the next steps of the interview process. example 3: a woman I worked at in the past has put me in touch with a hiring manager from KPMG for a cyber role example 4: a woman from IBM sent me a link to apply with her as an employee referral My point, make relationships with other women. Some will help you and some will not. but be the kind of woman who shows kindness to others including men and it will come back to you 10 fold. If you're not helping women, you are part of the problem. And you better believe, I will continue to do what I can to help other women.

It’s a true story. I’ve got another one to share but don’t want to clog up people’s inbox. Smile and know there’s a lot of good women out there willing to help :)

This is really optimistic! I work with a team now that will only help the women closest to them. I am the newest addition and have worked really hard and done everything that has been asked of me by them in hopes that I would be granted a ticket into the team. Unfortunately, that has only caused more of a separation and they look at my role as someone there just to support them, while on the contrary, I was hired to support three partners. I hope that no matter where we all are in our careers, we make decisions with care and thoughtfulness, you never know what kind of reputation will be built about a company due to a group of individuals who see you as beneath their status. Hoping for some of your good luck to come my way soon!

Liz, we'll be your team while these women thaw out to the greatness that is you. (And even when they finally start seeing you too). Some times you'll be dealing with introverts who already have what they need. Even then, when you keep working and they see things that they can't help but appreciate or you make them laugh about something, before you know it, they're making your work life easier. I had a group I worked for that it took a freakin' year to truly be included in conversations and be greeted with smiles by them. It's no way to treat a fellow human being, but women have a tendency to be threatened when a shiny new thing enters the environment. I'm actually impressed you naturally sent their hackles up; they notice your potential and it's not something they're ready to encourage. Once they see you're about synergy and realize you're not there to take their jobs but to accelerate yourself along with everyone else, they'll get the memo. If not, that's their karma, and we'll be here rooting for you all the while.

This response is so mature and uplifting. It is hard for me to see the light at the end of the tunnel because I've never been through this before but I am trying to stay positive and keep myself motivated to leave a great impression here. I think you can isolate me or dislike me all you want but if there was a valid reason to fire me, they would've done it already. There is no argument that I get work done here and I don't bother people and for some reason, it is frowned upon by my team, probably for reasons you listed. Thanks for the support!
