Is anyone in a business development role?

Is anyone in a business development role? I am in a new career where my primary responsibility is to bring new clients to my firm. I am also paid a base and commission based on my business development activities. That being said, this is a new career for me and I've never been in a "sales" kind of role. What tips, tools, resources, and sales strategies have worked for you to be successful in business development?

A little more info: I am selling a service, not a product. The cost to the client/company for the service is anywhere from $30K - $90K. I personally have a goal of bringing in at least 4-6 new clients within the next 12 months so it's not necessarily high volume. Most of my business development work will be leveraging my existing network, but I also want to try some cold-calling approaches.

Join and become active in industry related memberships and group. Network and get very clear on your potential customers and identify what area is not being served. Where is the growth? What are your competitors doing that is successful? Study your existing revenue streams and study trends, etc. Dig in.

First of all, you are selling a product, your product happens to be a service. This may only be a semantic remark but it also changes your mindset. I also agree with the other poster that suggested joining groups where you can network. Does your industry/service have any local conferences? That is a good place to start and could be somewhere you can set up a vendor table to advertise what you do (make sure you clear this with your company first, though).

To grow your business, it would definitely be a good idea to order e-commerce website development. You can contact the company "7Fridays." They will help you develop a website that will help your business. I have also worked with them and have been satisfied with their work so far.
