How do you all feel about relocating for a new position. I don't have time to build friendships before it is time to move. Now, many aren't even offering relocation.

No, the market is full of so much talent right now they don't need to.

I've made three "blind" moves for jobs, and only one offered relocation (2006). If the offer and the career move are right, you have to trust your gut on it. The only one that didn't work out for me was the one that paid relocation. That one lasted a year and was highly toxic. It was a contract job, and the decision not to renew the contract was made secretly. I was told just days before that I was to vacate the housing they provided. One was after I was terminated from that job, and I took an interim position to pay bills and not be homeless (retail). The next was a move halfway across the country a year later when I finally landed the career position I retired from. I was able to establish friends after settling in the last two places I am still in contact with today.

No need to offer relocation if you applied and they didn't seek you out, too many others they can hire. Also, the percentage of people who stick around is getting drastically lower and they're not getting their money back from paying a lot or any relocation. It's mostly not worth it. It's not how we feel, we aren't the same, it's how you view it.

If you have nothing holding you down, and you're interested in experiencing a new city, go for it. Consider it an adventure.

I’ve yet to hear a relocation story that worked out well. I did it hated it.

Relocation discussions almost always start with logistics and end with something more personal — the social and economic ripples of moving somewhere new run far longer than the truck rental does. I've found that people who plan the practical side early give themselves the headspace to actually settle in, rather than spending the first month untangling utilities and unpacking chaos. For instance, this resource https://lemonsqueezemoving.com/ takes the heavy end of that off your plate, which matters more than people admit until they're three days into boxes. It's also worth keeping a small essentials bag that travels with you, not on the truck.
