How do you budget your checks and ensure you save a certain amount of money each check?

I've tried several budgeting apps but honestly, the easiest thing for me is to have a certain amount of $ deducted from my checking account and added to my savings each month. I have auto-deposit set up so I know I have to have a certain amount in that account by the time the deduction goes through.

I'm currently using Mint, but I feel like I don't enforce my budget enough on myself.

I use an app! It's called "You Need a Budget" aka YNAB and I swear by it. It allows me to budget my paycheck into a number of categories, set goals, and alert me if I'm getting close to my spending limits. It's 100% helped me towards my saving goals better than any other app or tactic.
