Any advice on how to counteract a negative co-worker?
I recently started a new job, and my primary co-worker is a very nice woman, but she loves to complain, and is the kind of person who needs to place blame for everything. When something goes wrong, she always wants to know why. I tend to be more solutions-oriented. (i.e. "How can we fix this moving forward?" rather than "Why did this go wrong, and who's to blame?") Her complaints are often grounded in real issues with our company, but I don't want to feed her negativity, especially as a new employee. Any advice on how to respond without being dismissive or feeding into the complaint cycle? Thanks!
