Contractors-How do you use the linkedin open to work banner?

Hello!

I have been consulting/contracting for almost 2 years now and I tend to leave the open to work banner on my profile pic because the work can span anywhere from 1 week to 6 months. They may extend, but I can't count on that. That said, do I just leave it on my profile all the time? Do I leave it off when I'm engaged? Would love to hear from my fellow contractors as well as recruiters. What makes sense? Thank you!!

Are you looking to stay in consulting/contracting permanently full time? If not, I would leave it up - many recruiters search for those and reach out to folks with the green banner first.

Ultimately, I would love to be back on staff. I had 2 very bad experiences back to back and decided to go back to consulting for a while.

As a contractor, you can use LinkedIn’s open to work feature to show recruiters and clients that you’re available. Simply update your profile by adding job titles and preferred work locations. You can keep it private for recruiters only or make it visible to everyone. Keeping your profile updated with skills and projects will increase your chances of getting noticed. You didn't actually answer the question.

Add a line to the top of your profile that you are accepting discussions about new contracts during this time
