Sorry for the long post. I am having a hard time finding a job. I've had 2 interviews in the past 6 months and both went nowhere! It's very disappointing and I am struggling with my self-confidence. The recent job interview went great or so I thought. It was more of a conversation than an interview and a previous co-worker gave a job referral. But it wasn't enough. I really thought I was going to get the job as the manager responded to my thank you email stating that I would hear from HR and that we would be in touch soon. So that made me really optimistic. Two weeks passed and I contacted the recruiter. That's when she mentioned that they chose someone else for the position. I was angry and devastated. If I had not contacted the recruiter, when were they going to tell me? It is frustrating that some recruiters do not respond or ghost you. I was really hoping to get this job. I am getting desperate as my funds are low. Trying to find something part time just to make ends meet but don't know where to start.

If they are with recruiting firms or one of the large consulting firms, they may be refreshing their database of potential candidates.

So sorry to hear this, but learn from this experience--recruiters contact anyone who might be a fit for a job. They have a great 'come on' style. But as soon as the position is filled, you are no longer on their radar. They're kind of like telemarketers. I don't imagine it's a great job to have; they need to sing for their supper (bring in candidates and hopefully get them hired). They deal with so many people per day trying to make their own quotas. Remember that they work for a recruiting company. They don't work for the company you want to work at, and they don't work for you. Good luck.

Keep in touch with this recruiter for other openings. As a former recruiter the hardest part was delivering the news they did get it. But many of the no’s turned into yes’ with other clients. If the recruiter has a lot of clients keep in touch. Don’t despair the right job is out there. Update your LinkedIn by adding your resume to your page make sure your status is open for work, then set up job alerts. I get them daily even though I’m not seeking. Go to your Alma mater if degreed and ask to join alumni groups or their recruiting system so you can have access to hundreds of jobs. That job is out there for. Dry your tears friend, you’ve got this!!
