In my experience severance is only offered when an employee is laid off or as part of a voluntary separation package. It would never offered to an employee who resigned.

You don't get a severance when you resign. Those are offered when your job is eliminated. You are leaving of your own freewill. You also can't get unemployment. My suggestion is to spend all free time looking for a new job.

Was severance supposed to be an incentive for you to resign? If so, that would need to be negotiated and signed off by everyone involved before your last work day. If not, I'm not sure why you think you're entitled to get anything now. If you quit or resign, the company doesn't owe you anything beyond a final check.

What are you looking for, money to go away? That train left the station if you resigned three weeks ago. Sorry, but you have zero negotiating power at this point.

If you resigned (aka quit),it's time to move on- if they had ANYTHING to offer, you'd have it in 3D, not 3W.

    Unfortunately, the ship sailed off.

Why would you get severance? You are choosing to leave. They may counteroffer but don't expect more than that in the US.

You get a severance when the company lays you off, not if you leave willingly.

The only pay you get out of leaving is your last paycheck, your 401 k if they close it to give to you, and any PTO that is left over in a separate paycheck.

If by severance you mean additional severance pay, as others have noted this is basically unheard of for a voluntary resignation. However, perhaps you are referring to vacation pay you are owed or COBRA benefits you could be eligible for. I would document the specific questions/requests you have and send those to your employer as they were likely confused by your reference to severance.

It's not typical to resign and ask for a severance package. It's typical you resign and you are paid for work you have done and perhaps any accrued/unused vacation/PTO. Why do you believe you are owed a severance?

Why would they do a severance package when you resigned? What value do they find in that? It's not at all a regular practice.

I don't know of a single company that hands out severance packages to resigned employees upon request.
