Most people don’t hate their jobs.
Melanie Wexler
Most people don’t hate their jobs.
They’re stuck in the wrong version of it.
I see this all the time with smart, capable professionals who come to me saying,
“I don’t know if I need a new role… or just a reset.”
Before you blow everything up or stay miserable out of habit, pause and ask yourself a few honest questions:
1️⃣ What exactly is draining you right now
Is it the work, the leadership, the pace, or the lack of growth?
2️⃣ What have you already outgrown
Not every role is meant to stretch you forever.
3️⃣ What options are actually on the table
Sometimes it’s a new team, a new scope, or clearer boundaries. Sometimes it’s a new company.
4️⃣ Where are you relying on work to fill gaps it never will
No job fixes burnout, identity loss, or lack of purpose on its own.
5️⃣ If nothing changed, how long would you realistically stay
That answer tells you more than you think.
Career dissatisfaction isn’t a failure.
It’s feedback.
The mistake is ignoring it until it turns into resentment, anxiety, or a rushed decision.
If you’re feeling “off” in your career right now, what do you think is really at the root of it?
