Not motivated anymore

Not motivated anymore

i've been in my role for 10 months. My team is great and the company is decent. Lately I've found myself procrastinating and just dread logging in or being onsite. I already know this isn't a role I see myself in long-term but I saw this as an opportunity to gain new skills and experience.I feel like 10 months is too soon to move to another team but I can see this feeling getting worse.

If you're convinced that this feeling will definitely get worse, I would start looking elsewhere for a,new opportunity or, if you can afford it, quit and take time to figure out what would fill your career with a feeling of purpose and engagement.

I agree with your concern with the timing of moving to another team.

I think it's good to recognize when were are starting to feel less motivated or engaged it our work and knowing / feeling like it may only get worse means you're in a prime position to start taking small steps for your career!

A couple things I would suggest:

First, start to pay attention to or reflect on the specific tasks, responsibilities, or projects that you dread most or that are draining you more than others. If there are other tasks that as less draining or even that may be more enjoyable pay attention to that too -- are there opportunities to engage in those types of tasks more? Are there opportunities to work on new or different tasks/projects?

Second, I think this is a good time to start job searching. Most job seekers are experiencing longer job searching and longer interviewing processes. Knowing a job search might take longer starting now with getting your resume and linkedin updated, starting to explore other companies you might be interested in and starting to network could all be good steps that help reenergize you a bit!
