I began working for a company in hospitality after being a photographer for several years. I let them know in the beginning that there would be weekends I would not be able to work and the company said they could accommodate. At 35, they have changed my schedule many times and require that I stand through my whole shift. I have flat feet that tire me out and by the time I come home, all I want to do is lay down. However, I have been dealing with an illness and it recently started to affect my work ethic to the point I was getting written up for stupid mistakes. Now, I'm on my last straw in their eyes. I am secretly falling apart inside trying to appease them. I'm looking for another job because I don't want to be fired and my photography side hustle doesn't make me enough to pay my bills or provide as a single mom. Any advice?

I would immediately start looking for Corporate catering. Most major large corporations have cafeterias, Cafes and restaurants in their buildings or on theur campuses that they subsidize for their work force to keep them on-site and paying lower prices while at work. This also allows departments to cater meetings and events on-site as well which keeps their costs low.

Hours are usually 7-3:30 pm. The physical works is usually quite simple and entails prepping food, setting up meetings and cleanup. Pay is usually quite decent.

Since you also have photography experience, corporations always need photos for badges, Corporate Leadership promotional headshots and event photos, etc so you might look into that. There are many unique and non traditional jobs you should consider with your background. I would ask ChatGpt to prepare a job search plan of nontraditional job ideas that require your background. I think you'd be surprised.

I would look into customer service call center work. They usually have benefits and you won’t be on your feet.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how we juggle creativity with deadlines - especially when visuals are part of the project. It’s one thing to capture a photo or concept, but refining it so it feels polished and professional can take forever if you’re doing it one image at a time. I ran into that exact frustration when I had a backlog of screenshots and visuals that needed consistent editing. That’s when I started using https://aperty.ai/ to help me quickly batch adjust photos and keep the look cohesive without spending hours in manual tweaks. It’s been a real time‑saver and lets me focus more on the actual ideas and less on repetitive editing.
