Feeling very frustrated.

Feeling very frustrated. I have a job but my hours have been cut. This job is currently effecting my mental health and been struggling to find another remote job (it has to be remote). I have applied to so many jobs and either gotten no response or they have gone with someone else (mostly no response). Any ideas?

Make sure to tailor your resume to each job. I used Joscan, it does require a subscription, but it will give you an ATS resume.

research the types of companies you would like to work with.and target them. Try and find some one with your job and try to build a network. Or try and find the hiring manager or recruiter - premium LinkedIn can show you that.

also look on different job boards or go straight to the companies website and apply.. I did kind of like the easy apply jobs, I don’t think it goes through the ATS scan, but I could be wrong.

    hope that helps.

There are very few good jobs that are remote. This might be why you have not found a job.

I see plenty but I am just competing with so many people. Due to a medical condition, I really can't go into the office unfortunately.

If you can focus on customer service jobs or a lower level job you may be able to find companies that are open to remote work. The money is generally far less for remote work. But at least you can be remote.

Since the end of covid restrictions, there are fewer remote jobs. Companies want to see people at their desks and working. Think of the cost of all of that empty office space. I was told I had to go in - I was concerned and felt unsafe. A highrise in a downtown area, very few cars in the garage, very few people at the office, and building security asked to escort me to make sure I was safe. Then there are other offices where there is no space to sit and work. You spend most of the day looking for that magical space. This is especially true when it is a 24x7 office.

I’m sorry to hear you’re going through this. It sounds really challenging. Can you share more about what kind of remote work you’re targeting and the skills you bring to the table? Knowing more might help tailor advice for you. Also, where have you been searching? Expanding your job hunt beyond a couple of sites—consider platforms like LinkedIn, We Work Remotely, FlexJobs, Remote.co, or even company career pages—might reveal opportunities you haven’t seen yet.

It might also be worthwhile to get your resume professionally evaluated. Sometimes a fresh set of eyes can help pinpoint what might be holding you back from getting noticed by employers.

Lastly, if you’re open to further developing your skills, online training or professional certificates on platforms like LinkedIn Learning, Udemy, or Coursera could boost your profile and open up new possibilities.

Hang in there, and keep exploring different avenues. Your next opportunity might be just around the corner!

Most companies have called their staffs back to the office full-time. I would look into contract work that might allow for remote work.

There are plenty of remote jobs on LinkedIn and Indeed. Not all companies are returning to the office! However, remote jobs are getting hundreds of responses (sometimes thousands!) and it’s really really hard out there! Check literally everywhere. Google: remote jobs near me

this means you could locate a remote position at a company physically nearby in case they ask you to come in for occasional meetings and such. You would be more likely to get selected than someone an hour away, for example. Search regular job boards for emote jobs. Just remote as the keyword or location. But it is brutal right now. People have been applying for jobs for months, even a year or two, and nothing. It’s not just you.
