So......I finally said something about how the manager on my job says very disrespectful comments and how I don't always feel safe on the job because of her comments among a few other things. This came up because my supervisor wanted to sit with me to get to know me and see what needs to change. I had to speak up for myself because he was trying to tell me that I was not participating with Team Building because I didn't eat with them a few days ago. It was my lunch break so I didnt have too....but this person only sees me one day out of the week and has not in the few months they have been here taken any time just to get to know his team. So it ended up coming out to him that I am reserved at work because I do not want to engage with the insults, threats, and offensive comments that are said throughout the day when and mostly when the manager is there. In me trying to ignore it all and try not to react still all while Im doing my best to try to hear and work to concentrate to do my work and not get offended. I have tolerated this for a long time just so that I dont make myself a target but today....it spilled out. So I'm not sure if there will be any retaliation against me or not....but I'm tired. It takes so much energy trying to drown out the noise from the manager that most times is nonwork related and disruptive and also trying to not get offended by things she blurts out about various subjects like peoples faith or calling people out of their name. I've never been on a job like this where such behavior is exhibited and allowed. I had to speak up for myself though. Im tired and should not have anxiety just by coming to work in trying to maintain my peace while feeling disrespected and even a hostile eviromment. I just wanna come to work, do my job, be respected, respect others and go home.
