Depends on the company. I started with 3 weeks pto and 6 sick days. After 3 years that increased to 4 weeks pto.

It is going to depend on the company, experience may play a role, vacation vs. PTO, union contracts in some cases, etc.

This depends on the sector. In higher ed, we earn an exorbitant amount of leave, for both vacation and sick days, separately from the other. And have certain holidays and then many days off as winter break. You can't match it in the corporate world which is why most of us stick around. Once you've reached a decade you earn more vacation days. There is a max of 30 days per year you can be off, but most just roll over the extra or we give to a pool for those who run out and need it for medical reasons. I think PTO is a joke in corporate as I've worked in it and given only a few days for sick leave is terrible. Especially as Covid took people out for 1-2 weeks. If you want a lot time off, look a higher ed jobs.

So many factors to take into consideration. I manage one of the companies we own in Canada and many times my team members are traveling overseas to see their families as they had moved to Canada, so we typically see 2 weeks. Also it depends on what province in Canada that dictates what we may have to approve. If it's not overseas travel it's 1 week, norm for US practice, however people try to use days' off at the beginning and the end to stretch it out. Which is against policy, NOT my company, there are thoughts on that. If they want more that has to get approved. Work/Life Balance is changing mindsets. I can work anywhere even in a vacation like setting and as long as I'm doing my work, I'm good.
