Uggh I am data a science woman who started before this was even called data science, majored in Stats and now have around 18 years of experience. Most data science jobs I don’t even get a call back and then the few I do, in these interviews I feel like I am already rejected before the interview even begins. Being a female in data science sucks even with years of experience and masters in stats, I am not good enough. Is this a common experience?

I feel like data science is still hot and data scientists are still a hot commodity. Have you sought any sort of feedback? Have you considered exploring a PhD program? (I ask because a few that I knew did have the PhD under their belt as well.)

Have you tried reaching out to staffing and workforce firms (companies that staff and manage technical staff for other companies)?

Kforce is one that comes to mind. They generally are always hiring data people, including senior roles. Some companies then hire those contractor workers after some period of time, so although it's not a straight line to full-time non-contract employment, it's an option.

And there are plenty of companies like Kforce.

You may not want contract work but it's still (mostly fulltime), can include benefits and is a path to non-contract work.

So, btw...I was randomly on Ford's career site and found this:

Realized that apparently my c&p didn't produce an actual link. Look at Ford's (the auto manufacturer) website and search out their careers page.

You may want to get your resume reviewed, or find some data science/ data analysis industry peers and look at the LinkedIn to see how they market themselves.

If you're not getting interviews, it means your resume needs to improve and your networking skills need to improve.

If you're not getting jobs, it means your interview skills and your portfolio/technical case study needs to improve.

    It's not "data" science! Haha.
