Staying in a job too long. Thankful I learned than lesson early in my career. I need a lot of momentum in my career.

This. I have had positions that nurtured me and instead of growing there, I left for what I thought were greener pastures. As a woman who was working in a predominantly male leadership field, I found out the hard way about superiors stealing ideas for themselves. When they get close to being caught, they do all they can to make you took bad and even break laws (like HIPPA) to push you out. Posting anon because I won in the end.

While looking for a change in the midst of COVID (after 10 years with the same company), I took the first offer that came my way. I wasn't unemployed, I just wanted a change. Boy was that a mistake.

Taking a position with a company going against my gut. I knew going in there would be challenges. Learned quickly the unethical practices of the owner. Ended up there for 18 months then got recruited out to a much better place. Really it was all in the timing and my needs at the time.

Jump ship from a solid wfh job to an RPA position who scouted me from LinkedIn. I was laid off six months later. I was unemployed looking for work for SEVEN months.

moral of the story: no job is perfect, but if you are receiving everything you need from it, hold on tight to it. The job market is very bad.
