Are those that text you and interview a real position.

Are those that text you and interview a real position. I recieve and offer. Sent forms to fill out and they were to send the equipment to me. I was told that I had to pay $85 dollars for an employee ID. Which I didn't do. They sent 3 checks to me in the mail in the total amount of $8,450 dollar. Of course I didn't cash them thinking they were fraudulent. Has anyone had this ever happen?

This is a scam to try and get you to reveal banking or credit card information. The check will take 24 to 48 hours to bounce but in the meantime time they will clean your account out or rack up credit card charges. This is an old scam that still works on some.

Good for you that you didn't fall for it.

Just for the amount alone of $8,000. There is no way that a company would right out pay an employee that amount to do financial transfers. I need work but not like that from any company. I just know now that if its not emailed and onboarding. Its not a legit job.

I never respond to texts regarding a job offer of any kind! My instinct tells me that most of those are fraud/spam. I'm sorry to hear you're going through this! I hope you report this incident and go through the proper channels to safeguard your identity.

    I know that now.

SCAM SCAM SCAM - this is not a legitimate job offer and they are trying to steal your identity.

Sorry this happened to you but good for you for catching it.

Out of curiosity, you asked about texting in your headline - what did the interview process consist of?

  6. Tracie Wallace

It was a zoom chat session, where they are still trying to get me to cash the checks which I told them I threw away. If I could post the chat you would see how they are trying to get me to put the funds on cash app and send it through bitcoin. The job I felt was legit when I had an offer letter that I had to sign and send back to them. The equipment that I needed for the data Entry position was to be sent but nothing came. It had been going on three weeks now with the texting back and forth with someone that thinks I'm a fool. The three checks that amounted to $8,000 was a serious red flag alone.

Tell them you are calling the police. That the interview process was not conducted with an actual person is a red flag for me - that seems to be a thread running through almost all of these scams I'm hearing about.

    No. scam.

Also mean to add regarding "I was told that I had to pay $85 dollars for an employee ID." No legitimate company makes jobseekers do this. Tell them you are contacting the police if they reach out to you again.

Fraud, for real and they keep texting me like I'm so desperate to work that I would fall for money. Not like that.
