Question for those who know MyWorkdayJobs: A first for me

I just had an interview and the talent acquisition person said he could see that I applied with another company having nothing to do with the company I was interviewing with— he even named the title and company name. They wanted to know where I was in that company’s process and what the difference between that role and this one was. I had no time to ask how he knows and frankly was taken aback so I answered and kept going. Is Workday giving applicant info about all of our applications elsewhere to their hiring clients??? Has anyone ever heard of that???

That is definitely more than a little concerning (wasn't Workday the one that had previous issues?) and haven't heard of that happening before.

Was this a recruiter interview from an agency, or was the interview with the ultimate employer who would be the hiring company?

No, sharing info about where you have interviewed (and whether it the process is moving forward!!!!) is not a feature that Workday offers! Would have asked that interviewer how they knew that info, ESPECIALLY how they were made aware that you are not only interviewing, but that youre still a candidted being considered??

So I posted your question in Chat GPT and it came up with

there are a few scenarios where this can happen:

Shared Corporate Group or Holding Company

If the two companies are part of the same parent organization or share a recruiting network, they might have access to a common Workday environment. For example, large conglomerates or subsidiaries often share a single Workday tenant.

    Third-Party Talent Networks or Integrations

Some organizations opt into Workday’s “Talent Community” or similar features that allow recruiters to see if you’ve applied to other companies in the same network. This is less common but possible if both companies participate.

    Recruiter Access via External Tools

The recruiter might be using an integrated system (like a CRM or sourcing tool) that aggregates candidate data from multiple sources, including Workday profiles, if you’ve consented to join a talent pool.

    Bottom line:

If these companies are truly unrelated and not part of a shared network, the recruiter should not have visibility into your other applications. It’s worth asking politely next time:

“I’m curious—how were you able to see that? I wasn’t aware that information was shared.”

This puts the ball in their court and helps you understand if there’s a network or consent you agreed to.

Were they two brands in the same parent company? Thats the only way I could see this happening.

I don't know the answer to this, but were you able to read the TOS on this MyWorkdayJobs site? I had information added to my LinkedIn profile - and it was marked as looking for work when I wasn't - all without my permission. Turns out they updated their terms. Not cool, but that is the way of it nowadays.

    Good luck!

I am not sure if Workday operates like this. Perhaps the talent acquisition person requested special permissions from Workday? Also, there are strict employment policies that Workday adheres to as well as recruiters. To know on where else you are applying to is not compliant. Different ATS for different companies.. I see your point and have struggled on similar but as much as I think static resumes should be argued as a constitutional violation in the Supreme Court and I show my unconditional hate for those unholy ATS job portals, there is something more overarching and you should speak to Workday or place a query. That kind of data access is not their mission statement.

I'm not sure if there is a difference in the functionality between "Workday" and "MyWorkdayJobs", but regardless, this seems like a violation of your privacy. It's one thing to ask if you're actively interviewing for other roles, another thing entirely to be poking around in your search history, which is what this sounds like to me.

Agreed here, it would be a red flag for me. Be cautious.
