I was once told that HR is not for the faint of heart.

I was once told that HR is not for the faint of heart. I have conquered many battles in my life, yet none that have made me feel as incapable and small as the world of human resources has.

I started my journey as an HR assistant and moved to a contract role, within 2 weeks of me being in the role, I was an HR dept of one. The Director quit for a better opportunity. Fresh out of college, nobody to learn from, just me. Currently working in a Generalist capacity and now the organization is in financial ruin and now they are trying to push out HR to save money. (not an assumption, there has been actual conversation about this) My job security is at risk, once again. I am coming to the conclusion that the HR world is just not for me. I am tired, the lack of job security, the negligence from my company, the endless job searching, being ghosted by recruiters, being apart of a 3 month recruitment process just to be rejected in the final stages... I am tapped. This industry is just not for me, its breaking down my mental health. You're really a different breed if you survive and excel in this field and I genuinely commend you. Like seriously, thank goodness I have a therapist.

That sounds really challenging, especially for someone new from college. I would not make the judgement on HR as a field just yet, as the negative things you experienced seem to be more corporate related that many experience across many different fields. You didn't really ask a question but I would encourage you to reconnect to what drew you to HR in the first place and hopefully you can find your passion for it again to help you on your job search. I'm here to simply offer support and encourage you to keep going!

Sounds like you are not aligned with the role at all. Not even a little but most jobs these days are fragile and prone to layoffs, etc.

If you are looking at a job pivot, you may want to look into case management or some HR specialist roles in state or local government. Non-profit is also a good place to get your feet wet if you want to gain enough experience to land a better role.
