Unfortunately, all phone numbers are just a string of numbers. Private lines may not be listed , but they're still just a strings of numbers. A computer can just dial them up, starting with any exchange, 1 by 1, from 0001 all the way to 9999 until they get an answer. Me, I generally don't answer the phone, because it's likely nobody I know. I just let it go to voice mail. My friends will leave messages.

Just let them listen to silence, then block the number.

On the weekends I put the phone next to the TV, so they can

hear the cartoons, and when they hang up I block them. Block, block, block. Then it'll start to slow down to one maybe 2 calls a month.

I try not to answer any calls from unknown numbers. If someone wants me, they can leave a message. Better yet I want it to be etiquette to text someone before you call.

Hi, this is so and so, is now a good time to speak?

Google yourself, these days most of your data is online either openly or on the dark web. Use a site like Mozilla monitor and if you need to scrape off your info by requesting removal.

There are companies that are all about finding where your personal information is listed and getting it removed. They cost money, of course. Incogni and DeleteMe come to mind, but there are certainly others.
