Hello everyone,

Hello everyone,

I am looking for a job after a career gap of 6 years due to COVID and pregnancy. I am not able to search one since they say that gap is big. But I want to start my career again as I am in need of it. Any help will be obliged.

Thank you

Nikita Sharma

Former Company Secretary Assistant

Are there temporary assignments you can do to refresh you experience and bring it current?

Also consider earning new certifications and training to show that you are competitive with other candidates?

No there are no temporary assignments. And yes I have recently completed ux designer course in order to be a part of competitive and growing digital world.

Consider doing some networking and reconnecting with previous employers, coworkers/colleagues that have worked with you and trust your work and work style, etc.

To get your foot in the door, and as an administrative person, your best option would be to check with some temporary employment agencies that offer temp-to-permanent positions, and short-term contracts. This could give you a way to build a resume, that is more recent than the large gap. If you attended a college or trade school, contact their alumni association to see if they have a career center or job board. Some job boards are specific to reentry to the workforce.

Sometimes it seems that there are no temporary assignments, but I have found it very useful to post my resume on the usual job boards - Indeed, ZipRecruiter, etc. as well as on the specialty ones. I was able to obtain three interviews that way and this was after a 20-year gap, filled in somewhat with volunteer experiences.

You may want to give that a try. Couldn't hurt.
