Time to do the garden and the price of planters was outrageous! Spray painted them 'ole pots in one of my favorite colors. #savemoney #spendwisely | Fairygodboss

Venturing out for soil is still on my bucket list, sadly. I have dark, tall wine bottles for long-stemmed almost-real flowers; old saucers as jewelers holders; old boots as planters (after washing thoroughly of course) and painting them.

Beautiful; isn’t it great when you recycle? The missing link is soil - can’t find in grocery stores but I’m sure it’ll be available soon.

Obe---I had the same issues as well. Do you have a hardware store? Sometime even the Dollar General store has small bags of potting soil. I love to recycle. What items have you recycled?

It took me WEEKS to get soil for my DIY garden. Once I did, I used delivery pallets and burlap to create seedling planters. Most of my plants doubled in size in the first week after being planted in the new soil and out on my deck. It is truly a relaxing and fulfilling way to pass the time and my only expense was purchasing soil (I used seeds from the food I cook).

WAOW! What seeds did you plant? We're the critters behaving or did they dig up seeds? Very cool that you used the seeds!!!

Tomatoes (3 varieties), honeydew, 4 types of peppers, cilantro, basil, revived a chamomile plant that had been languishing on my kitchen window sill. I'm planning to plant some cucumber and strawberries and see what happens.

Glad to see I’m in good company, although my family thinks I’m a cheapskate. I have scallions growing in water on the kitchen ledge and am struggling with a celery root. Amazing to get back to Mother Nature. Green thumbs galore!

For herbs you can start using teacups - instead of them just sitting in your cabinets - pull them out and let them get some use!

Hi Lynn! Absolutely love that IDEA!!! I'd probably use succulent plants for teacups!
