"Everything on paper seems good with this company. For example, they liked to brag that their CEO was female (she’s left now) and worked a 4-day week. They even won awards for women’s rights or something similar. However, the offices I worked in (2 different offices) were highly discriminatory, and though they gave me flexibility as a working parent on paper, I found out after leaving that the partner in my division hated flexible working and regularly complained (behind my back) about my being there. This was reflected in my professional development reviews, where I was regularly told I wasn’t “invested” in the firm and that I needed to show my presence in the office much more (ie staying until 7/8 pm, whereas my professional work contract was to leave at 5 to pick up my child from nursery). I was consistently told (despite contrary feedback from my direct line manager) that my work wasn’t good enough, and my manager confirmed that this was due to my not being in the office as much as my colleagues. All in all, a horrible work environment for working mothers."

"It depends on your level. It seemed that people in higher level positions (Senior Manager and above) had a reasonable amount of flexibility, but there is essentially no flexibility at lower levels. And if they DO give you flexibility, it kills your career prospects."
