"If work/life balance is important to you, look elsewhere. If you're down for the cause and willing to fight through the bureaucracy of a male-dominated environment, particularly at levels of leadership, join us. I'll be waiting for you."

"During the COVID pandemic, most employees who had previously worked in headquarters or regional offices of course worked from remote locations. As the pandemic wore on, new staff were hired in positions designated and announced as being remote. Productivity, morale, and engagement increased, but there was trepidation. Executive agencies were tasked with evaluating the portability of positions to determine if they could be permanently remote, telework, or onsite based on the responsibilities of the work. Accordingly, agencies implemented workplace flexibility agreements for employees based on other qualifying factors and the preferences of the incumbent. With these agreements, the trepidation waned, but not totally.
Employees were hopeful that their new workplace flexibilities would be permanent, but were anxious due to inconsistent messaging from Congress and organizational leadership. This anxiety is justified as due to politics and resistance to change, executive level agencies were directed by Congress via OMB to recall senior and executive level supervisory positions on telework agreements to report to the office more frequently. This decision was not based on its impact on employees or taxpayers who bear the cost of the carbon footprint left by Federal employees. Now, the anxiety validated, Feds are learning not to trust their agencies and believe their work/life balance is not of concern, just executing the will of Congress. Rank and file employees don't see or feel their hierarchy advocating for what is best for most (Feds and citizens) and reduce their decision to compromise to political alliance and personal preservation."

"There is no official maternity leave but i was allowed to use my vacation and sick leave (up to the max) and could tap into a voluntary leave transfer program for potential support if needed. Technically was unpaid leave but one can stretch to use PTO. "
