IBM is excellent on gender issues, really and truly, but sadly layoffs mean this is not a great time to be an IBMer

There has been a back to the office push, but it varies by department. In my experience, at most, you need to have a reason to work from home and do it once a week or less.

Maybe. IBM is really good at gender equality and excellent policies, and it was a great place to be a female engineer, but the scale of layoffs recently is alarming.

IBM has been an incredible home for me for 23 years. I have been given significant freedom and opportunities to grow while also being given respect for my husband and two children and the time I need with them.

Balancing personal life and work life is not an easy task. In fact many times the two can become one. Having an employer who encourages flexibility is critical. As an IBMer, we are fierce in our commitments and passion to deliver great work, but are equally passionate about delivering that in our personal lives too. I truly beleive IBM respects that and encourages a focus on resilience practices so we can refresh and take care of our selves to give our best inside and outside work. The key to remember is that we have to honor ourselves with boundaries and utilize the wellness tools that are available to us.

It really does depend on what division and what area you work for on how this will work for you. Some are flexible and understand, some have policies from the 1980s.

It depends on the area - some have completely removed WFH so it is hard if you want to live in a place that is a longer commute to then see your family. Also, there isn't much respect for time outside of work.
