"Performance and development is very biased. A small sliver of women get ahead because they look nice, have soft voices, and sweet smiles, and work like bull dogs 24/7. Big emphasis on communication style during performance reviews. Women need to contort into just the right amount of confidence while being sufficiently demure or suffer penalties. "

"Again, it depends on the leader. I've seen very flexible leaders and those that expect you to schedule time with your family instead of scheduling your work life. Work-life balance is a function of the organization or leader. "

"Big difference in policy for exempt vs non-exempt as well as benefits limiting to spouse and children. Non-exempt employees with no children but aging parents don't have a lot flexibility/benefits. "
      Did you take Maternity leave?
      "No"
"I do not have children. However, I would like instead of maternity leave it be called family leave and granted not just for mothers birthing a new born/bonding time but family time off for illness of spouse, children and/or aging parents. "
