"If you have a life outside of work, not a good time to join the company. Maybe management is alright. But the whole job is draining and most people aren’t too excited to be there. It just pays better than a lot of jobs in the region, but compared to your peers in other countries you’re earning about 1/5th to 1/10th of what they earn, depending on your job bonuses (based on job assignments and client)"

"PTO given in the system but you’re penalised for taking it. Management messages and calls at all hours, day and night, and expects responses. Often less than 48 hours’ notice given when travelling abroad for projects. Expectations to stay late every day in the office and work weekends with no overtime option."

"Company is trying very hard to promote females but having to adapt to the male culture. It often feels like blindly promoting females to fit the numbers, rather than adapting the culture and industry bias. I've heard in good maternity leave policy, and company emphasizes their female reputation. "

"If you're considering starting or adding to your family, Schlumberger only considers ONE parent the primary caregiver and will only allow that person to take time off. You can take up to 11 weeks of paid leave. The primary caregiver does not apply if your significant other is also taking any type of leave or is unemployed. Secondary parental leave is up to 40 hours of paid leave."

"This company is about self-empowerment. You need to take ownership of your career and not be afraid to ask for what you want. In general, I have found the company to be supportive of females and it definitely takes gender balance seriously."

"The company offers many interesting, demanding and rewarding jobs at the forefront of the industry, but still has some potential on work-life-balance for parents. "Please note: Length of maternity leave subject to local governmental regulations overruling company policies.
Maternity leaves worked fine, but more challenging to return to work as not family friendly. I can easily work 50-60 hours per week with some flexibility on when I work (for instance early mornings or weekends). I can't work 4pm-6pm due to pick-up from child care and family dinner. This was respected by local management, but not by international management.

"The benefits and materntiy leave benefits are really great. However, SLB is a giant, slow-moving corporate machine. Nothing happens quickly and everyone seems to be stuck doing things how they've always been done. In my department, great suggestions were regularly shot down, but it seemed like they liked to give you hope that it could work and it would just take months for them to finally (officially) shoot your idea down. "

"Schlumberger is a great company to start your career. They will train and challenge you.
The company is also demanding in terms of hours and commitment.
There is low job security due to the cyclicality of the Oilfield industry resulting in layoffs.

"Great diversity of gender and race - it seems like people who are qualified and work hard will get promoted regardless of gender. However, there aren't as many senior managers who are women - still, considering the gap between men and women in graduating with engineering BAs and PhDs, SLB does a great job of getting women in the door."

"I've been the only woman working in a department or one of two for my entire career. As such, navigating maternity leave was somewhat difficult since there aren't many precedents. I wasn't given any issues with it, and was very much welcome back and gained responsibility afterwards. There are not many women in the upper echelons, though there is a drive to build more gender balance."
