"Culture is better than other organizations. Empathy is valued. Make sure you advocate for your pay from the beginning in your offer. I learned after years with the bank that my pay is under the minimum of the pay scale for my role and advised by my manager this is acceptable as long as its no more than 20% than the mid point. Morale downgrade with this information. Salary ranges are now posted so ensure you are compensated fairly from the start. "

"I'm learning a ton. I feel supported by my manager and beyond with my "buddy". Internal comms does a great job of keeping everybody in the loop/on the same page. Business partners & collaborators are smart, friendly and open/available. Benefits & comp are on par/better than my last few employers. I've experienced a remote-first culture, which is great for me as I'm not located near a hub. Department & C-Suite leadership seem to really care--about employees, about clients, about the work, about our communities. Appears to be a ton of runway in my role and broadly throughout the company. I'm surrounded by a good mix of people who have been with SVB for 15+ years and under 2 years that help keep the existing culture/what's made SVB grow, while bringing in new ideas. My only "look before you leap" for other women would be if you are looking to start/grow a family, parental leave is 12 weeks, low side of average. "

"Very easy to get burnt out - company runs lean and there is always more work that can be done. Focus more on relationship building internally and in the ecosystem to have long-term success at SVB. "

"Plenty of women in leadership positions and there is no gender bias when it comes to promotion. Face time is still considered important so this means that work life balance isn't great as the client comes first."

"SVB is a fine stepping stone if you are coming from another company and they offer you a better position. But be prepared to stay in that position or move to another company in order to grow. Also - there are very few women in leadership positions."

"Progressive company. Great place to work. I disagree with the other reviews that it's a white boys' club. I did not see evidence of that."

"The benefits are great from medical to flex time to maternity leave. But they don't promote or pay women equally to men and the number of women in management is low. "

"Flexible hours, receptive to women with children, and good benefits including a subsidized program for emergency child care. Not many women in senior leadership positions however, overall culture of respecting work-life boundaries and working mothers"

"I worked at SVB for a few years and reported to 2 female managers. In the beginning, things were great and I felt empowered working for 2 women in management roles and the support they provided was great; however, felt threatened by me once I became good at my role. Long story short...if you become a threat, they will find a reason to use you as a scapegoat for their own personal gain. What baffles me is if I did such a good job and the entire department but those 2 managers liked me, why would you let go of a highly talented and qualified employee?"

"Good old white boys club. Good if you have connections.
That said, they pay well and benefits are great. But you will get punished for being smart and they will slowly kill your morale. If you don't mind sacrificing your sanity for a couple years of good money, why not?"
