"I was warned of the intense office culture, but wasn’t expecting to have to continually prove myself operating in a senior role. Even with the constant reorganization of the leadership structure, there are very few women (if any, depending on discipline) at the top."

"There are a good deal of guys working at Tesla that have a poor view of women. There are a lot (even one in my department who was promoted to lead then a supervisor) who will say to your face that they were not looking forward to more women being hired and working with them. It is so very discouraging. "

"Negotiate your compensation strongly. This company doesn't offer set banks of PTO- "Take what you need!" they say. Sounds great, right? Well- sort of. Sounds great except there's also a culture where teams are proud of the fact the CEO moves into the factory for weeks at a time so he can work without sleep, and expects everyone else to manage the same workload. Teams with less than 50 direct reports are always being evaluated for 'inefficiencies.' Arguing for appropriate headcount is a nightmare. Safety is a buzzword, not a reality. There are benefits to working here- namely the benefits- and if you're on a good team, it is amazing. If you're not on a good team, you won't last long. If you're relocating for the company, be VERY SURE you like your team. If you're already in the area, give it a shot- it could be a blast. "

"I happen to work for a manager that endorses workplace harassment and microaggressions as "just part of the business." While those issues are not impacting me directly, it is demoralizing and frustrating to watch it impact the people on my team. Tesla says they don't tolerate people who don't do the right thing.....we'll see if that's true."
