"I love working for Kroger. It's fast-paced, something new every day, and I can't imagine working any kind of retail other than grocery retail! But work/life balance is hard. It's retail, so work/life balance will never be great, but it can be good as long as you work hard to make it good."

"Little work life balance as you are expected to be available all the time. Even though the company sends a message that people love working here, there seems to be low job satisfaction. Not enough diversity in leadership, lots of old white men in high ranking roles. A very old company which means it can be hard to get those who have been at the company for a long time to adapt to new ideas. Often very bureaucratic because it’s a very large company. A company very focused on store sales, if your job role doesn’t center around that, there isn’t as much concern for what you do. "

"For the most part, I see women treated equally with the same opportunities as men. There are some departments where I have heard there is a 'good ole boys' club still in slightly visible, but I would say the divide these days is less men vs. women and more progressive vs. old school. Some teams have widely embraced a culture that represents 2020, but there are others who are reluctant. "

"This is a hierarchical company. While there are some women who are reaching executive levels, there's still a lot of old-boy stuff going on -- I actually don't think it's on purpose. Many leaders just go with what's comfortable, and who they know. Mediocre men have just as good of a chance of moving up as very deserving women."

"If you're not the cute young cheerleader type you're not going anywhere unless you were already there. What was actually a more equal playing field a few years ago has become more male dominated since a woman has been put in charge in our area. They change our schedule and say it's to give us a work life balance but completely make it impossible to have a work life balance. Paid Maternity leave is offered but hopefully you don't expect them to leave you to enjoy that leave before they're calling you to ask when you're coming back. I'm truly upset to feel this way because 3-4 years ago I loved working for Kroger"

"They tend to hire mainly teenagers and part time workers so the work load for anyone working 30+ hours per week actually turns in 40+. High turnover is another problem. But if you are looking for part time work that you can leave at work at the end of the day, then this is the place for you."

"I have been here about 3 years and most of the people I work with have been knowledgeable and friendly. I am on a team with approximately 30+ men and only 4 women. I have noticed that the majority, almost all, of the men on the team are a level above all the women except for 1, who is a manager. But even she is under the next level up manager. Right now is still a mans company, but that has slowly been changing since I have started. I have also realized my salary, as well as my bonus, is lower than my most on my team."
