"I worked in Walmart marketing for over 5 years. Generally, people are kind and respectful. The company prides themselves on this “respect for the individual” and I feel that is true. For such a large organization, it’s more entrepreneurial than I thought it would be. If you have an idea to improve an idea or process, you can probably make it happen. Leadership visibility is how you get promoted. If you get a supportive manager, they’ll help you figure out how maneuver within the company and raise your visibility in such a large organization, if that’s what you want. That said, there is a lot of turnover, as well as frequent reorgs and leadership changes (I experienced at least 1 reorg/leadership switch a year, sometimes more). That got to be a bit much, and the constant pivots felt less like adaptability and more like lack of long-term vision. "
