A recent Bankrate survey suggests that, these days, workers value higher pay, flexible work hours and remote work—and these evolving desires are why more than half of the workforce (56 percent) is searching for new jobs right now. But looking for a new job can feel like a job in and of itself. Navigating countless job listings and trying to stand out in a sea of applications takes time and your acute attention. After all, it’s important to tailor your resume to each job and personalize each cover letter.
Even if you do all of that, however, there are so many job seekers at the moment that you still might hear a “no,” if anything at all. On average, successful applicants apply for 10 to 15 jobs and receive six to 10 rejections before they land one, according to a Joblist survey. This can take such a toll on confidence that many people toss in the towel early.
