With over 15 years of experience in technology, engineering leadership and software development, Rema leads teams for Fandango’s ticketing and home entertainment platforms, Fandango and VUDU. This work allows Rema to marry her love for entertainment with her passion for technology. Her recent contributions include: cloud migrations & microservice modernizations, the consolidation of two home entertainment platforms, and APIs powering innovative experiences like apps on the Oculus VR and Comcast’s XClass TV. Over the years, Rema has previously been responsible for commerce systems, ticketing & point of sale integrations and streaming delivery, entertainment discovery services used across various devices. In 2020, she was named to the 40 under 40 Rising Stars in Home Entertainment by Media Play News and in 2018, she was an African Excellence In Technology Award recipient by Amplify Africa. In pursuit of her goal to improve diversity and inclusion by increasing the number of women and people of color in the technology industry, she co-founded the Comcast/NBCUniversal TECHWomen chapter within Fandango. Her chapter is working to increase the number of female technologists within Fandango, provide opportunities and exposure for female leaders and help to inspire young women to pursue careers in technology. She also sits on the Global Advisory Board for TECHWomen across all of NBCUniversal. In her free time, she mentors young women at the Girls Academic Leadership Academy and also facilitates the STEM curriculum for the Los Angeles Delta Academy mentorship program. Rema earned her undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Computer Engineering at the University of Southern California where she served as President of the National Society of Black Engineers and became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. If she is not coding, you will find Rema riding her road bike on the beach of Playa Vista, running outdoors or binging on movies or TV shows.
