Essential Cooking

May have to stop cooking a while

I am here to help you cook. But I will no longer post ab out that Dream job. Cooking 3 days a week at a non profit (outside contractor) since January. Now at the beginning of covid, the work place was on the same page. Masks on in building/wash your hands. Now all of a sudden people are done with masks in doors. Myself and a volunteer have had our last straws. I hate to drop the income for my house, but what if I get sick? I have integrity, I try to set a good example, yes I wear the mask, and am the food safety manager for them. So. I have two days to figure out how to break the news to to my boss. She is aware of the problem and was within the grips of it and she too removed the mask in doors. While I had already requested building lock down while I was making and preparing lunch. No in and out through my food prep area. It's not one bubble of work- I work with the houseless community and we have several contracted entities under one roof like myself, so it's all their bubbles, too, and they don't seem to care if they are endangering me by not keeping their droplets to themselves. So if you were reading the web log, it will come to an end if the contract is put on hold (until they can get me a different kitchen where no one enters unless they follow the rules). It's like people don't want this this thing to go away, they want more people to die and get it and keep passing it an extra year. I don't want this to keep going on. I won't be part of the spread.

About this group

When running a Kitchen off donated items that may be different from week to week, it's good to be flexible and be able to ask for help. There are also outside factors that may be in play as well, such as volunteers, training, storage, equipment, etc. Come to us with any questions and ideas and we will answer and be appreciative, and help if help is needed.
