Second Chapter Women Entrepreneurs

I'd love to know - what is the major difference you're thinking about when it comes to your work/career or business in this 'second chapter' of your career journey?

Even though there are some great companies to work for out there, they will replace/drop/eliminate you in a heart beat if it means more profit. So my loyalty is to myself and my family, they come first and I no longer sacrifice my family needs or my own needs for the good of a company. If you have to subside your living so a business can make a profit than their business model is not a good one. It sounds negative but it is a hard truth for some to accept.

I don't think standing up for yourself sounds negative in any way.

I don't have the stress and workload of my previous job to deal with any longer I no longer have to take it home with me and work on it over the weekend. I was a Teacher.

My personal happiness is the primary goal, and all I care about is benefits for my family. I still want to do good work, and be acknowledged, and learn, but it is less of a day to day urge.

Where I work, people are promoted due to who they know or how deep their pockets are. At this point, I’m focusing on taking my skill set and contributing to a new business venture since my talent has gone unrecognized.

Sadly, companies can be very myopic and miss the talent they have. I’m a huge proponent of entrepreneurship for women! Go for it but test your niche and know your customer inside out so you can set yourself up for success.

That you are starting with experience and strengths, not from scratch.

Agreed. More confidence hopefully allows us to get to our goals more efficiently.

The major difference is I understand balance, I know what situations, challenges, people and environments are best for me. I have better boundaries to ensure my life works best for me.
