Is this just a me issue???.........
I get notifications of jobs Fairygodboss believe I'd be suitable for. I have an MBA, I've worked in office settings mainly in HR for almost 30 years (I'm also a tax preparer, I've done bookkeeping, and some supervisory jobs) but somehow I'm being referred jobs in retail, customer support in foreign countries, or software engineer. I would love to learn how their algorithm works; who picks these jobs and what criteria are they using to say who would be a better fit for what job. Is anyone else having this issue of not being spotlighted for appropriate career paths via Fairygodboss???? This isn't earth shattering but I wanted to get this off my chest and see if I'm the only one having these issues.
I've discontinued using alot of the job boards because most of them are proving to be posting alot of fake job advertisements, and there are jobs that are only posted so scammers can get your information. IT'S HARD OUT HERE FOR GENUINE HARD WORKING INDIVIDUALS LOOKING TO BETTER THEIR FINANCIAL SITUATIONS.
It's daunting, I have a background in software implementation and quite perplexed about the notifications, which are similar to yours.
I’ve only received offers to interview when applying via ZipRecruiter.
I too receive those irrelevant job notifications from FGB. It's not just this site though as I've also experienced this from Indeed and Handshake as well. You can always unsubscribe if they're a bother.
There's really not a lot of jobs listed here on FGB, what they send really are just an email. We probably all get similar jobs sent to us just because... I don't think they really work on their platform. This place has become more of a forum and where they sell their Coach Connect.
I don't look for jobs here. I use LinkedIn, Wellfound, Builtin and Indeed. I don't apply through any recruiters or blinded listing that doesn't include the name of the company. There are indeed A LOT of fake jobs out there. Or just placing the job post but never actually hire someone or they already have someone slotted for it.
I wish you well on your search!
Are you currently a CPA who has done small business tax prep? Looking, because our old one retired in the summer.
I’ve received FGB jobs that are in my geographic area but are not related to my skills.
I delete them. Whatever.
I do know one company that kept sending me jobs that were totally not my skill set. Their system was picking up my interests such as cooking. I removed them. I also get emails for jobs that pick up acronyms that are in my resume that are also acronyms for programming jobs, which I'm not. Mostly I get the best fits through LinkedIn. One came through recently from a recruiter who I have to say did their due diligence and actually read my resume.
yeah...the jobs I get from FGB are within my field but usually lower than my level. I'm unclear how to adjust my entries to get more accurate suggestions myself.
It would take more work but look at the job postings listed at some sites (Monster, etc.) then only apply at the direct company web site rather than through job boards. This would allow you to see from the actual company if the job exists and hopefully avoid info theft.
