Stuck and need to get out
I have worked in various types of admin assistant roles (executive, coordinator, etc) in various industries for 15+ years. I am currently in a role with no room for growth and little to no professional development opportunities are provided. I do not get to utilize enough of my skill set and I feel it is getting weaker the longer I stay on. Most of my counterparts have been in the exact same role at this organization for 15+ years. I want to be able to grow and promote up. My resume has been revamped (with a lot of help) and I'm ready to apply like crazy. I need help with trying to find employment opportunities that will move me up and into bigger opportunities. Any tips, tricks, suggestions?
When interviewing, be honest upfront and tell them you are looking for a job that has room for growth, professional development, and possible promotion opportunities. And that you have the experience and skills to meet those challenges.
What aspects of your skillset would you like to utilize more? Those might be the basis of keywords that help you drill down into your job search by looking for them in required skills and company descriptions. If you can put into words what you are missing form your current work, it may help you find it elsewhere.
I think that specifying that you are capable of managing/leading a team in your cover letter would be a good start!!! Also do you want to be in corporate? Startups often offer faster opportunities for growth!
