I stayed with the same company for over 20 years, so I haven’t had to look for a job in a long time. Honestly, I wasn’t prepared for how overwhelming it would feel.
There are so many places to look, so many versions of your resume to make, and so much silence after you apply. I’ve led big transformation projects and I know I have a lot to offer, but some days this process makes me question everything.
Anyone else returning to the job search after years with one company? What’s helped you keep going?
I'm right there with you. My most recent role was only 2 years, but before that I was with a company for 25 years. I got lucky getting the last job so quickly, but I was hoping it would be my last. The job search is definitely overwhelming, and the interview process, when I get that far, seems to be over my head. And the silence is deafening. Some days are harder than others. Yesterday was a hard one for me, I got a form email after what I thought was a good interview, telling me it was the end of the line for me. But today I'm back out there applying. I make it a routine, same websites in the same order, adding the new ones (like this one) to the end of the list.
I think it’s completely understandable to feel overwhelmed after spending 20 years with one company. The job market has changed a lot, and having to sell yourself on paper after years of proving your value through actual work can feel strange. I’d try to focus on a few roles that genuinely match your experience rather than tailoring your resume for every possible opening. It may also help to reconnect with former colleagues and people in your industry, since not every opportunity comes from an online application. Keeping track of applications and follow-ups in one place can make the process feel less chaotic too. Even platforms like Phonexa show how much easier complex workflows become when everything is organized.
I would consider using ExtraEssay again for a demanding marketing assignment. My project required market analysis, discussion of consumer behavior, and specific strategic recommendations. The writer https://extraessay.com/marketing-assignment-help/ understood the requirements and presented the ideas in a logical order. I particularly liked the combination of marketing theory with real business examples. The ordering process was simple, and I could include detailed instructions about the assignment before the work started

I wouldn't suggest you use bots anyway, it makes costly mistakes that turns out to make you unfit for the Job or role you're applying for, plus, there are lots of bot detectors out there, recruiters uses this bots to know how genuine your application is.
I would suggest you Network, Instead of sending your CV's to companies.
Send me a mail, there's a step by step guide I need to put you through.
Twenty years with one company gives you plenty to talk about, but fitting that experience onto a resume sounds exhausting. Maybe start with three projects you’re proud of and write down what changed because of your work. Those examples can become resume bullets and interview answers without rewriting everything for each application. For the writing part, https://essaysbot.com/ is another option to explore when you’re stuck organizing your thoughts. I’d keep your own wording and specific results front and center. Silence from employers is frustrating, but it doesn’t erase what you’ve accomplished. Have former colleagues been helpful with introductions so far?
Job search can be a very lonely activity. You want to make sure you have mourned your last job and are ready to start the search. Get an idea of what job title you are looking for.Since you were at the same company for 20 years, You want to highlight your accomplishments from the last 10 years. When companies see 20 years of experience, they might think you too old or would want a higher salary they are wiling to pay. There are so many steps, it gets overwhelming. I workd at an outplacement company. I just retired. I would love to help you. I don't want to be paid. I enjoy helping others get through the process.
