Have been out of work and looking for a job since January, I get two three and four interviews only to be passed over for said job.
This is very stressful. I have take. A job in retail until something comes along. I feel stuck, like I am going to be at this jewelry store forever….ugh . Would not mind if there was foot traffic. Anyone else experiencing this?
It's painful. You have my sympathies.
I've experienced some of the same things. I get interviews - and follow-up interviews, but not the job. I usually cannot get any feedback, but in the few cases I have, it had nothing to do with me. For instance, more than one "lost the funding" for the position. A couple decided to "change the requirements and repost the position". One got an internal applicant who had to be given priority (after I'd been through 4 interviews). And another changed the role from internal to contract (I reapplied through the contract agency), and then they decided to outsource the work.
For more than one position, I knew someone in the company who I'd worked with before and who was willing to vouch for my capabilities. And even with that I couldn't get the interview.
It's hard to stay motivated - and you've been at this even longer than I have. I admit to having the occasional "pity party". One piece of advice that sometimes helps me is to view each rejection as one step closer to the eventual success. Good luck!
I understand how you feel, Anita. This is a hard time. I am trying to get a job where I can use my bilingual skills and my degrees in Spanish, but most of them only require a High School Diploma for Customer Service, which makes me think what were my degrees for? Hang in there!
I think given all that the world is going through it might take a bit longer but your career will get on track.
I am so sorry you’re going through this. Being out of work/taking a job you don’t want in the meantime is stressful.
Have you asked for or received feedback for why you were not selected to move forward?
What types of roles are you in the market for?
One feedback was I was not engaging enough. If you know me you that is a joke. I am looking for Customer Success, PM , implementation, onboarding…ugh
