    Good choice - we moved down from Boston MA to Richmond VA a few years ago and love it.

    Markel, James River Insurance and a few others (can't remember off hand) are good companies to look into - my sis works at JRI.

    Yes, James River actually recruits risk management and insurance majors from our university. I saw many by googling "underwriting" companies as well. I think you will find many opportunities in Richmond for sure. I almost moved there 20+ years ago but stayed in my home town as it was less expensive. Great city! Good luck to you!
