Hello everyone, I currently work as an account director for a publicly traded technology company.
I am currently seeking a role outside of sales because I am ready to get into a new field. I have 10+ years of sales experience, therefore, recruiters naturally fit my resume into the "sales" profile. I will be finishing my Masters in Management and Analytics and I have some knowledge in SQL, R and data visualization. I am looking for an entry role as a solution engineer or even data analyst. I would love to hear some feedback from everyone to see how I can make this change happen sooner than later. Thank you!
Hi, I work at American Family Insurance as a Diversity Recruiting Manager. One of my counterparts runs our internship programs, one of the programs we offer to grad students is a 18-month rotation analyst program there are three different tracks: leadership, IT tech, and and analyst. The next cohort starts in July 2021. If you are interested in hearing more I can put in you in contact with the team so they can give you details.
I wish you the best of luck as you switch industries. I switched from security into HR about 7 years ago. The best advice I can give you, is you have a ton of skills that are transferable to many different industries, don't let anyone tell you any different.
Graciously,
Katie
Hello Katie,
I would love to learn more about the internship program with American Family Insurance. I am looking to make this switch as soon as possible, therefore, July would be a perfect for me.
Thank you for sharing your story, I am happy to hear that you were able to make a career switch. This has been on my mind for two years, but something in my heart is telling me to step outside of my comfort zone and go for it! I have many transferable skills that are applicable to various industries, therefore I am sure that I will be able to speak to those skills during future interviews. I will reach out to you privately for the opportunity that you mentioned. Thank you!
Warm Regards,
Monet
have you looked into any internships you can do while completing your program to get experience in the field? or alternatively do you have any prior experience that you'll be able to talk about during interviews?
Hello,
I have been looking into programs, internships and academies that are interested in hiring second-career individuals like myself. I have not had any luck but I am actively applying to these programs. Also, I have transferable skills from my previous roles that I could speak to when I land an interview!
