Any Franchise Owner

I was recently laid off from my position due to budget cuts and I’ve wanted to go into business for myself for a long time and think now may be the time. I’m not a huge risk taker so I was thinking about the franchise route. There’s a business out there that embodies the charitable aspect of a coffee shop which is exactly what I want to do. Any advice? This would be completely new for me but I’d like to try.

Hi Angie. Franchises are a huge investment. I just joined a company as an affiliate and it was free. Would you be interested in more info?

I am not sure if it would be helpful, but you should check out the interview with the founder of Starbucks on Master of Scale. (link below) I am not saying Starbucks would be a good choice - I was honestly surprised by their social mission, which I was unaware of - but I found it interesting. If you like Ice Cream, Ben and Jerry's despite I think now being owned by Unilever, actually still does a considerable amount of good work. They have an independent social mission board, and I just saw a podcast they launched about race in America which looked interesting. My advice would be to look for registered B Corps. https://mastersofscale.com/howard-schultz-how-to-do-good-and-do-good-business/
