The Missing Link of Mental Health and Wellbeing at Work
Watching a documentary film, Wisdom of Trauma, which follows the journey of Dr. Gabor Mate, a well-known trauma expert, I convince we can not fully support mental health at work without being educated and having trauma-informed leaders.
Our commerce, business, and system were built in a traumatized world. In fact, we were born in a traumatized world. The best way to survive in a prolonged toxic and stressful working environment, unfortunately, is to disconnect from oneself. Imagine the impact of it on the quality of work, mental health, and well-being.
Without awareness, a process and culture in an organization can be a place where trauma is triggered and amplified.
We must include a trauma-informed strategy and approach to support people's mental health and well-being at work.
I so agree Christine, thank you for the recommendation on this documentary. Will check it out...at the end of the day, we are a product of our experiences right?
As someone who recently went through a trauma outside of work, this really hits home. It's very important to bridge the gap there because unfortunately, trauma is not something you can turn off when you go to work. Thanks for sharing!
