Communication arguments

Don't you hate when you get in an argument with your SO only to find out they were being thoughtful? I was working on some peer reviews one night at home when my SO reminded me that I needed to walk the dogs. We give them their last walk around 8:30 PM every night. (We give them 4 walks a day) I told him I was almost done and I would do it when I finished. It takes me a while to write peer reviews, I need to formulate my thoughts, write, review my words and edit. He came back in 15 mins, I told him I was almost finished and started to get annoyed. He reciprocated the feeling and started to get loud and kept repeating "walk the dogs" in my face, not letting me think so I gave up and walked them with my son. We argued, I reminded him that if we were watching a sports game he has no problem making the dogs wait but because he doesn't think my job is important that I needed to do it when he said. We went to bed angry. In the morning, he explained that he didn't want me to walk the dogs alone because recently some homeless people have build a camp behind a warehouse across from the park I walk the dogs. So he wanted me to walk them with my son before it was too late and he would already be asleep (he is 13) , so I wouldn't be alone. He did not say that during the argument and had he communicated that I would have understood his logic. I thought he was being controlling and having a temper tantrum because I wasn't doing what he said when he said it.

About this group

This is a safe zone first and foremost. Come and vent about your midnight feeding, your boss calling you abrasive, your chicken coming out dry, or whatever else you need to get off your chest. Let's celebrate those first steps, first words, promotions, all of it. This is a virtual village to listen, laugh, cry and support you.

Group rules

No judging! Be kind. If you don't have anything nice to say.... Don't say anything at all.
