Fellow introvert here. I have discovered a few interesting things about myself over the course of my 20-year career (regulatory compliance). I like interacting with people as long as I have time to fully prepare. I prefer one-to-one interactions, but enjoy larger group interactions, if the outcome is clear. So, I spend time creating or reading agendas, pre-reads, memos, post-meeting notes, follow-ups. This way, I can indulge my tendency to deeply think about all angles of problems before the group setting. Then, even though I am an introvert, I will be comfortable in a group setting. And, I know that I bring value to the company so my thoughts and ideas are welcome. If I kept my thoughts and ideas to myself, the company would be deprived. After the meeting, I carve out time alone time to recharge. So, my point here, is that introversion may not require a job or career change, but a process change instead. Congrats on recognizing your needs and taking a step to get those needs met. GL.
