Have any of you been in Greek letter sororities in college or have any experience with them?

I went to school for a very specialized area that is male dominated. My university was 89% male. So, I joined a social sorority. I enjoyed the friendships I made.
I was and have mixed opinions on my experience
Thanks for responding Chelsea. Was your sorority community service oriented, career oriented?
I was in a sorority and I personally found it rewarding.
Would you recommend it to new college Latinas?
I chose not to join because at least back when I was in college, the initiation rituals were humiliating and sometimes dangerous. Sororities forbade the pledges to wash or brush teeth or hair for a week, and they had to attend their classes smelly and disheveled. One of the fraternities stripped pledges naked and dropped them off 20 miles out of town in winter. Every year, a few pledges die of alcohol poisoning when they are compelled to drink an unreasonable amount of alcohol at a rapid rate. However, that doesn't happen everywhere and the benefit of joining includes lifelong friendships and help getting jobs. I would research the sororities you are considering and find out what they require of pledges before signing up.
That was my opinion of them when I was in college and really until recently. I stayed far away and joined very few clubs for fear of social pressure.
I was a member of a small multicultural sorority in college, Delta Xi Phi. My line sister is still my best friend years later. What kind of information are you looking for?
I am looking for sororities that support professional growth and post-college career connections that young Latinas can take advantage of. Can we connect offline?
Hi, Rosemary!
I was a member in college and continue to be. Can I answer something for you?
Yes! Thanks! I am looking for the sororities I can recommend to young college Latinxs. What made your sorority a good experience and how did you find out about it?
