How To Become A Freelance Writer
Hi Ladies
I am interested in becoming a freelance writer. I have the passion and desire but lack the credentials education and background). Do I need to have a formal education as a writer and/or do I need to have years of experience to get started? Could anyone give me any pointers on what I can do to get started. I am not expecting things to happen overnight, I know it takes time which I am prepared to do, I just need help in figuring out the best approach to take.
Thanks in advance!
I had to start over when I was in my 50s. I had worked at a newspaper in the past so I decided to use that experience. I edit and do ghostwriting now, as well as being an author coach. I use upwork.com to find work. They offer all types of writing projects, ghostwriting, copywriting, scripts, etc. I would recommend you determine which niche you want to write in. Then you can hone in on that and become the expert.
There are a ton of blogs and podcasts on getting started in freelance writing but I am in the same boat as you. It's intimidating to get started.
Hi there! I'm on the same path as you, with a goal to become full-time freelance next month. I know of some writers who do not have an educational background and excel in the field. I would suggest that you start a blog to get used to writing and get some practice in. I do have an educational background, but I'm still consistently learning as well.
Thank you for your advice, I really appreciate it! Good luck to you on journey!
