I have been a Teaching Assistant for a year now.
I also have been volunteering for Autism Speaks and the Epilepsy Foundation for almost two years. I would like to earn more income and get personal satisfaction in what I do. I would enjoy working for a non profit. How can I go about doing this?

Network with all the senior leaders at the organizations you currently work for. Volunteer at large events that attract more nonprofit participants and Network with all of those members. Get to know these folks and demonstrate how valuable you can be. This is how you become top of mind for jobs before they become common knowledge.

This is great advice! I actually do volunteer at the large events and I scheduled an informational interview with someone from the Epilepsy Foundation for next week. I think you are right in stating to contact people like directors.

Apply for a job at a nonprofit to get your foot in the door.

That is what I am going to do. Places like the Epilepsy Foundation or like the well known foundations are harder to get a job with. I am trying though.
