I am interested in Document Management, what courses are required to transition into this field?
In no particular order, here is a list of skill sets that help in the Document Management space:
-- Basics of CMS (Content Management Systems)
-- Basics of Document Management Systems
-- Taxonomy
-- Version/Revision Control management
-- Workflows
-- Content Audits
-- Advanced Microsoft Word skills
-- Basics of Data Security
-- Basics of Project Management
-- Perhaps experience or knowledge of ISO's document management standard
-- Doesn't hurt to have some basic coding skills in R
-- Wouldn't hurt to have an understanding of compliance rules and laws for whatever industry you are looking to join (healthcare vs. law vs. whatever). you wouldn't need to take a class per se but it's not a bad idea to at least understand some of the "compliance jargon" so you feel comfortable in an interview.
